The Birds
There was a rustling in the tree up above. Then cheeping. A tiny neck poked out of the nest. And then innocent eyes took their first ever glimpse of the world. The boy watched the bird family. How happy they seemed. If he could only join them up in that nest.
A feather dropped from the nest. It fell slowly, like a bubble floating gently in the wind. The feather landed in the boy’s small hand.

100 WC
The honker went. Everyone was off… well, nearly everyone, another girl pushed me to the ground, before I had even taken a step.”Well what a start” I thought. I didn’t know who she was, all I saw were her neon orange sneakers. A kind marshall helped me up. I started with a steady jog, and soon caught up with the other kids. Just as the finish line came into sight I heard a “thud”. One of the other girls had tripped and fallen. I took one glance back. I didn’t know who it was, all I caught of her were the neon orange sneakers she was wearing.

100 Word Challenge

The tent flap unzipped, and mum stepped in.
“Hey kids,” she exclaimed, “come look at this.”
I pulled over my jacket, and eagerly stepped out of the tent.
The sight was perplexing. A million glowing fireflies illuminated the forest. It was if all the world’s light had come to this particular forest.

Summer
Remember the choppy, rough ride to an island far from the city’s refuge
Remember the blazing, hot sun burning backs of people not aware of the harsh rays
That was summer.
Remember hokey pokey ice cream dribbling down the cone as I try to lick it up, making sure my hands don’t get sticky
Remember surfing the waves all the way to the shore without falling off
Remember water balloons bursting as they hit hard against the ground, missing their target
Remember sitting on the beach eating fish & chips and watching beautiful sunset slowly going down after a big day out
That was summer.

A Special Place
The water, the beaches, the bush, It’s everything about the Marlborough Sounds that makes it such an amazing place to be.
Ease your way into the calm clear water, but watch out, you may not realize how chilly and piercing the water really is. Crabs, fish, dolphins, stingrays, so much life under the big blue blanket covering the deep sand banks. The long warfs are popular places to go fishing. In a few minutes everyone is hauling up Tarakihi, Snapper, Blue Cod and Kingfish nearly as big as yourself.
Deer roam around the bushy land keeping a sharp eye out for hunters about to fire their guns. The huntsmen blend in well with the prodigiously green forest when wearing their camo clothes, so pests do not notice the guns barrels pointing as straight as an arrow in their direction. In some places green trees and shrubs is all the eye can see and the sound of birds singing a soft tune is all the ear can hear.
The rocky, shelly sand on the beaches pierce the souls of my feet as I hop around trying to avoid the most sharp rocks. Yellow golden sand covers the beaches that don’t have shelly, rocky sand. Just sinking your feet into it makes you feel as relaxed as having a massage. Fine as it is, the sand is the perfect type for making sand castles and other things.
Even though I don’t visit the Marlborough sounds that often I remember it so well because it is such a captivating place.

My Grandpa
Yes, my grandpa does watch golf, but he does do some other things that most stereotypical grandparents don’t do.
In his spare time he usually puts on his old reading glasses and does some cross words for quite a long time, or he tries to find out more information about very distant relatives. The thing that really annoys my dad is that he shares this information to his kids that aren’t really interested in that kinda stuff.
Whenever we go to visit him in Nelson he always welcomes us in his deep voice by saying “Hello, hello hello!” and lifts us up really high even though we are a bit old to be picked up. The sound I always hear at his house is the loud sound of his big grandfather clock going “Ding, dong, ding, dong”.
My grandpa’s skin is as pale and pink as a newborn baby, although it's not as wrinkly as most grandparents skin. He has a bald patch right in the middle of the top of his head and little grey hairs covering the rest of his head.
I have only one more thing to say about my grandpa, he is the funniest grandparent in the world.
